The Public Power Corporation (PPC) was established in 1950, as a State owned public utility. According to its founding legislative act 1468/50 the Corporation had the exclusive right to Produce electric energy from any source, as well as to Transmit electricity across the entire country. A few years later the exclusive right of the Distribution of electricity was given also to PPC.
